Jet Airways' CEO leaving to take up top job at Alitalia

Jet Airways’ CEO Cramer Ball is stepping down next year, and will take over at Alitalia.
Ball will leave on February 29, 2016 and will be replaced by Jet Airways director Gaurang Shetty as acting CEO.
"Cramer has, during his tenure, made a significant contribution in the journey to turnaround Jet Airways. The company recorded two consecutive profitable quarters after a gap of eight years. Our best wishes are with Cramer and his family in his future endeavours," said chairman Naresh Goyal.
Although ‘family reasons’ were initially cited by the Jet Airways board, Ball has been announced as new CEO of Etihad backed Alitalia, and will start in early March, the Italian carrier said.
"I believe Cramer is the right person to continue leading the development and implementation of our industrial plan which is now well in motion, with a target to make the company profitable in 2017," said Alitalia chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo.
Prior to Jet Airways Australian national Ball led Air Seychelles through a restructuring period after it received investment from Etihad.
Ball previously worked for Etihad in regional general manager roles in Australasia and Southeast Asia.
