Jet2 celebrate first flights from new base London Luton

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays marked another major milestone as the first ever flights and holidays took off from its 13th UK airport base – London Luton Airport.
Jet2 welcomed its first plane load of holidaymakers on the inaugural flight from London Luton to Mallorca.
Flights also jetted off to Tenerife and Antalya.
This is the second new airport base that the companies have launched this year, after Bournemouth Airport in February.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will operate to 17 destinations in the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, mainland Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Madeira from London Luton this summer.
During the summer there will be up to 36 weekly flights during peak periods, representing over 430,000 seats on sale.
The programme includes two destinations – Girona and Verona – that are exclusive from London Luton Airport.
For summer, two brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft will be based at London Luton.
The airline and tour operator report a ‘phenomenal response’ for flights and package holidays.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will operate to eight destinations in their first winter of operations from London Luton Airport.
They will fly to the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura), Alicante, Antayla, Faro and Madeira with up to 19 weekly departing flights during peak periods.
Jet2 says more than 125 new jobs have been directly created with positions in flight deck and cabin crew, engineering and ground operations.
