Jet2.com joins forces with On Holiday Group
Low-cost airline, Jet2.com has joined forces with the On Holiday Group to offer real-time, dynamically packaged holidays and claims the new venture will “attack the heart of traditional tour operating”.
It will launch Jet2holidays.com later this month, backed by a multi-million pound advertising campaign.
Jet2holidays.com is also currently in discussion with a major retail chain about selling the product within its network of shops.
The new web-based company will offer hundreds of thousands of package holiday options departing from Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, Blackpool, Belfast International and Edinburgh to the Spanish mainland, the Balearics, Canaries, and Portugal. Other products, such as ski, will be added in the near future.
Holidays will be dynamically packaged from three, four and five-star hotel stock and paired with Jet2.com flights, so customers are not constrained by weekly departure dates.
Packages will include taxi transfers and on-demand holiday reps.
Jet2holidays.com boss Philip Meeson said: “Our business model is based on a relatively straightforward principle of matching low-cost flights with high quality hotel stock – but until new technology was developed, it had remained an untapped market.”
He said agents can add service charges if they wish, and there will be no brochures.
“Instead, Jet2holidays.com will offer a website which allows agents to book the holiday their customers want at the click of a mouse, with no hidden extras or costs passed on from such wasteful practices as brochure production.
“And in any case, why would a holidaymaker want to book a package holiday from a brochure which had its price set six months ago, when we can offer real-time, market-price rates?”
The technology behind Jet2holidays.com is being provided by the On Holiday Group, headed by ex-Airtours boss Steve Endacott.
“The On Holiday group has seen massive growth on the back of dynamic packaging and this year will provide 2.5 million bed nights to our hotel partners,” said Endacott.
Jet2holidays.com’s commercial operation will be run by Jet2.com and operate from a web-based platform built by the On Holiday Group.
