JetBlue gate agent accused of picking child’s pocket
A JetBlue gate agent helping an unaccompanied 11-year old onto his Fort Lauderdale flight bound for New York is accused of stealing the little boy’s wallet.
Police reports say the incident happened on August 7 while Andre Deshong was being boarded with an airline-supplied pouch around his neck for his ticket, wallet and ID documents.
The agent, 33-year old Marsha Henry from Plantation, Florida, took paperwork from the pouch when she walked the boy to her seat. According to Deshong’s family and the airport’s video monitor, Henry also took his wallet, which was stuffed with $200.00 in cash supplied by Deshong’s father for emergencies. When the boy arrived in New York without the wallet, his father returned to the airport in Fort Lauderdale and reported the theft.
Henry denies the charges.
JetBlue confirmed to TravelMole that the agent has been suspended pending trial.
