Jetstar Asia out of Avalon?

Thursday, 22 Feb, 2006 0

Qantas chief executive Geoff Dixon today said the airline’s Jetstar Asia subsidiary could begin flights out of Melbourne’s Avalon Airport.

Mr Dixon indicated that Jetstar Asia could begin flying as early as this year, although a firm date is yet to be decided.

“Avalon has been a huge success domestically, much better even than the management of Jetstar had expected,” he said.

“There’s no reason why not, if this worked out, we could use this for some of our international operations.

“I just think it is something we might do.”

Jetstar operates out of Avalon Airport in Melbourne while Qantas flights leave from the main Tullamarine Airport.
