Jetstar has this week been granted approval to operate its international long-haul services, further from shore than it is currently allowed.
The decision will allow the Qantas owned low cost carrier to fly more direct flights to Asia-Pacific destinations and perhaps even look at the Pacific!
Jetstar has been granted approval to operate their aircraft three hours away from emergency airports, with Jetstar currently operating flights to Bangkok and Bali and has recently granted approval to start direct flights to Honolulu.
Analysts are pretty well agreed that Qantas will move Jetstar onto their more competitive routes, but that Qantas will remain the kye operator on premium and of course higher yield, more profitable and business travel orientated destinations.
