Jetstar launching Tasmania flights from Gold Coast
Low cost carrier Jetstar is launching new flights linking Gold Coast to Hobart from December.
Jetstar moved quickly after Tasmania announced borders will be open to most states starting from 26 October.
The airline will operate three round trip services a week on Airbus A320 aircraft.
That represents more than 1,200 seats a week between the cities.
Jetstar last served the Gold Coast-Hobart route in 2013.
"We’re excited to launch this service with support from the Queensland government and the Gold Coast Airport. It’s great to be able to reconnect family and friends and give more people the opportunity for a holiday after what has been tough period for many," said Jetstar Group CEO, Gareth Evans.
Jetstar is also adding more frequencies on its existing Tasmanian routes.
It will fly five times a week from Hobart to Adelaide and seven times a week between Hobart and Brisbane.
