Jetstar signs on as Rugby League sponsor
The Gold Coast Titans have signed Jetstar to a multi-million dollar naming-rights sponsorship which club officials believe will guarantee the success of the National Rugby League’s newest franchise.
The tightly guarded secret was let slip by a Jetstar spokesperson in Sydney yesterday but Titans management declined to confirm or deny the deal.
NRL boss David Gallop will this morning join Titans managing director Michael Searle and star recruit Scott Prince and several key signings on a special flight from Sydney with the sponsorship announcement to be made to passengers on board as they fly to Coolangatta.
The deal, which is for at least three years, will then be launched at the Gold Coast airport and while Searle refused to confirm the identity of the sponsor, he believes when the details are revealed the rugby league world and wider sporting community will be in no doubt as to the credibility of the Titans.
Jetstar now do more than 200 flights a week to the Gold Coast, making it the airline’s major holiday destination.
