With upscale LA area neighborhoods smoldering in ruins, one of the region’s major theme parks is closed.
Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk in LA County, are closed and will remain so until ‘conditions improve.’
“Out of an abundance of caution, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk will be closed on January 9 as a result of the extreme winds and fire conditions,” it posted on X.
Disneyland in Anaheim remains open, which is about one hours’ drive from the fires.
More than 100,000 people have been forced to evacuate from Pacific Palisades, Malibu and parts of Hollywood.
Disneyland says its current operating hours are unchanged, although it encourages to check for updates.
Universal Studios Hollywood hasn’t announced a reopening date yet.
Ticket holders can view updates on the website and social media for rebooking options.
The ‘Sunset fire’ broke out in Hollywood, and Studio City saw houses engulfed and completely destroyed.
This morning, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said that the mandatory evacuation order for Hollywood has been lifted as fire crews have mostly contained the fire.
“Winds have allowed for air operations, and that has enabled significant progress in Hollywood and Studio City. As of 7:30 this morning, evacuation orders in Hollywood have been lifted,” Bass said.
Six Flags Magic Mountain in Santa Clarita closed on Wednesday while Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park remains open as normal.
Warner Bros. Studio in Hollywood and the LA Zoo and Botanical Gardens also closed on Wednesday.
