The Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board said visitors to Los Angeles County pumped a record-breaking $20.6 billion in to the local economy last year.
That is a 4.9% rise from the previous year with LA County generating $2.5 billion in state and local tax revenues.
The numbers were released by state tourism agency Visit California, updating the previously released preliminary figures, and showed a record 28.5 million hotel room nights were sold throughout the county.
There were 45.6 million visitors in LA last year, made up of 38.8 million domestic travelers and 6.8 million from overseas markets.
"Tourism isn’t just thriving in Los Angeles — it’s powering an economic resurgence that touches every corner of our city," said Mayor Garcetti.
"The 2015 numbers once again show the power of this sector to support good-paying jobs every year for hundreds of thousands of Angelenos who work hard to make Los Angeles the best place in the world to visit."
The updated numbers were released this week to mark National Travel and Tourism Week.
"National Travel and Tourism Week is the perfect time to thank our local leisure and hospitality industry – our city’s ambassadors," said Ernest Wooden Jr., president and CEO of Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board.
