Labour MP backs staff on strike at Luton Airport today
Labour’s shadow minister for disabled people is backing staff at Luton Airport who are on strike today and again on Thursday.
Marsha de Cordova MP will visit workers on the picket line at the airport today to show support for the staff who are responsible for helping disabled passengers.
They are in a dispute with their employer, Clece Care Services, over working conditions.

Unite the union said the vast majority are employed on zero hour contracts and most are on the minimum wage.
"The workers’ demands are reasonable, they want an end to zero hours and their pay brought up to the real living wage," said Unite regional officer Jeff Hodge.
"The blame for this dispute lies squarely with Clece and Luton Airport. Luton Airport announced profits of £39,651 million and carried almost 16 million passengers in 2017, while Clece is a giant service provider – they can afford to lift these workers out of poverty pay.

"The workforce takes great pride in providing services to disabled passengers, despite being on a toxic combination of zero hours and the minimum wage. They are in a ‘David & Goliath’ battle, taking a brave stand against exploitation."
London Luton Airport earlier said it expects minimal disruption from the strike action.
