An iconic Lake Tahoe paddle wheeler has been severely damaged by fire, injuring two workers.
Fire broke out early Tuesday on the 144-feet Tahoe Queen, which can accommodate 300, forcing one worker to jump ashore from the top deck to escape the flames.
He suffered a sprained back while a second worker was treated for smoke inhalation, said Eric Guevin, fire marshal for the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District.
Guevin said it took fire crews more than an hour to extinguish the fire.
They were the only two people aboard the vessel which was under repair at the time of the blaze.
"The whole cabin, every window, there were flames shooting out," witness Zach Hastie told the Associated Press.
"The fire was so hot it was sending the smoke cloud straight up in the air."
US Coast Guard inspectors have begun an investigation.
The vessel is still afloat but it is still unclear if it can be salvaged.
