Legacy Hotels & Resorts – for the business traveller & top end of the market
Many people like to stay at places offering unique facilities and individual experiences, and fair enough. People also decide on a minimum ‘standard’ which they use as a benchmark for their choice of accommodation, usually represented by a number of stars!
Both sides have to match up, for example a 3 star lodge in a prime game viewing area is probably not maximising your opportunity! Nor a 5 star resort backing onto railway sidings!
With the fast-paced development of hotels, luxury hotels, clubs and resorts catering for both domestic and international visitors to South Africa (and having to meet World Cup FIFA accommodation requirements in time for 2010), the risk of such mismatches will most likely increase!
According to Traci Sassenberg from Legacy Hotels & Resorts, the goal of each hotel, resort or lodge in the group is to be “The best hotel in that environment”. Also, each one is in a key location in order to attract both the business traveller and the top end of the leisure market, in particular tour groups that require 5 star accommodation on their South African tours.
Sassenberg says that Legacy’s hotels, resorts and lodges each offer a distinctive experience whilst maintaining a unique 5 star excellence and commitment to service.
A new lodge is opening in September this year which is situated in the heart of Addo elephant Park, South Africa’s third largest national park. Called Kuzuko Lodge, it is fully set up for the disabled, with rampways around the resort.
It is a family venue, and will offer a number of activities including guided bush walks, game drives and viewing ancient rock art. There will also be conferencing for up to 48 delegates.
