Little luxuries a Sydney first for new mums
In a first for Sydneysiders, new mothers will be able to head straight to a beachside hotel after being released from the maternity ward thanks to arrangements finalised today between Prince of Wales Private Hospital and Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach.
Called Little Luxuries, the new service is covered by participating health funds and will be available to mothers who deliver at Prince of Wales Private Hospital and have the approval of their obstetrician and the baby’s paediatrician to continue their post-natal recovery in a Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach ocean view room.
Midwifery staff from Prince of Wales Private Hospital will be on site 24-hours a day to provide personalised parenting and breastfeeding support to mothers of the Little Luxuries program. New parents will be able to bond with their baby in the comfort of deluxe accommodation offering spectacular ocean views; access to a specialised room service menu; and a large plasma screen TV with Foxtel.
“Little Luxuries is the first program of its kind in NSW and we are thrilled to be part of it.”
“This unique and desirable option offers new mums a quiet, comfortable and relaxing alternative to a hospital environment,†said Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach General Manager, Steven Skarott.
“We’re also encouraging partners and children to stay as part of the Little Luxuries program, sleeping in the same room at no extra cost. It provides an opportunity for families to spend time together away from the hospital and before heading home.â€
Deborah Latta, General Manager of Prince of Wales Private Hospital said “Little Luxuries will provide an alternative post-natal experience for mothers and babies, allowing them to transition into their new life together with midwife support before heading home as a family.â€
“Little Luxuries has been developed as an enhancement to our existing maternity service, allowing us to better manage the increasing demand for our services and continue to deliver our high standard of quality care to privately insured members of the community.â€
Expectant mothers that are booked with Prince of Wales Private Hospital have the opportunity to participate in the Little Luxuries program at Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach with the approval of their health fund.
