Loganair welcomes government approval for new Heathrow flights
Loganair has hailed government approval for its London Heathrow flights under Public Service Obligation flights.
City of Derry and Dundee to London flights are switched to London Heathrow.
Loganair calls it a ‘game changer’ for regional connectivity.
Approval was granted from the Transport Secretary, with flights into Heathrow’s Terminal 2 beginning from 6 May.
This will be the first ever link between Derry and Heathrow.
It also marks the first Dundee flights into Heathrow in almost 40 years.
Travellers from Orkney and Shetland also stand to benefit as same-plane services via Dundee will fly into London Heathrow from 7 May.
Moving to London Heathrow adds easy flight connections to a host of global destinations at LHR.
Jonathan Hinkles, Loganair’s Chief Executive, said: “This is a milestone moment for Loganair – and indeed for regional connectivity.:”
Additionally, British Airways confirmed it will extend its partnership with Loganair adding 11 new routes to its codeshare agreement.
The expansion will now give British Airways’ customers access to 46 of Loganair’s UK routes.
The new routes include Aberdeen to Newcastle, Belfast City to Dundee and Southampton to Stornoway.
