London Stansted had its busiest ever June passenger traffic, handling 2.8 million passengers.

It was 153,000 more than the previous best in June 2019.

It took the airport’s rolling yearly traffic total to 29 million passengers.

The June total is an increase of 8.3% on last year.

During the month Stansted recorded its first ever 100,000 plus passenger day in June.

The 100,800 passengers on 28 June was also the third busiest day ever at Stansted.

Despite the numbers, operational performance in June remained good with 97% of departing passengers passing through security in 15 minutes or less.

The total was also boosted by thousands of football fans heading to Germany for Euro 2024.

London Stansted serves 10 German destinations.

The top destinations during the month were Dublin, Istanbul and Palma, with the most popular countries being Spain, Italy and Germany.

Nick Millar, London Stansted’s Operations Director, said: “To pass the 29 million passengers a year milestone is a fantastic achievement.”

“Last month was the busiest ever June at Stansted, and the fourth busiest month ever at the airport.”
