London themed hotel to open in Macau

Asia gambling hub Macau is to get a large slice of London life.

Las Vegas Sands Corp wants to reimagine the huge Sands Cotai Central into a London themed hotel playground.

The rebrand will be completed by 2020, it said.

“If you think about London, it’s iconic in so many ways, the buses to the Beefeaters, and there’s just so many opportunities there. Our team is having great fun playing with that,” said Robert Goldstein, Sands’ president and chief operating officer.

The refurbishment will add an additional 1.7 million square feet of space.

It will then account for more guestrooms than fellow European themed resorts the Venetian and the Parisian combined, said Sands’ CEO Sheldon Adelson.

“Having three iconic must-see European-themed destination resorts, with a broad range of amenities, will strengthen our marketing and customer-service capabilities and position us to grow faster than the Macau market,” Adelson said.

Sands Cotai Central says it has pumped more than $13 billion into the region in the last 15 years.
