London to Delhi flight lands safely after bomb threat

A long-haul flight which departed London landed safely in Delhi, India after a menacing written bomb threat was discovered midflight in one of the bathrooms.

The London to Delhi Vistara Boeing 787 flight was carrying almost 290 passengers.

The plane landed without incident and a full inspection of the aircraft found it to be a hoax.

According to airport sources, a written note with the phrase ‘BOMB THIS FLIGHT’ was discovered in one of the aircraft’s bathrooms.

Delhi Police said standard security procedures were followed for such an incident.

“No suspicious items were found,” it said.

The Delhi Airport Operations Control Centre was informed of the bomb threat about three hours before the flight landed.

Passengers disembarked normally without incident.

On discovering the written bomb threat, cabin crew carried out an initial cabin search but found nothing suspicious.

The captain took the decision not to divert and fly on to Delhi.
