Another $40 million was just part of a $1 billion investment in the past decade to draw conventions to Long Beach’s downtown waterfront, which is one of the few such waterfront facilities in the country.
The city, the fifth largest in California, now has 100 quality restaurants in an eight-block radius. The Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center has 300,000 square feet of exhibit and meeting space.
The city now has a total of 5,000 hotel rooms, with most of them in the downtown area that is close to many attractions, restaurants and shopping areas.
The city’s best-known attractions range from a historic ocean liner to a world-class aquarium. The most recognized attraction is the Queen Mary, which has a 365-room hotel, and offers historical tours.
Another attraction for visitors is the city’s Southern California location, close to many major attractions such as Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood.
