Luton Airport scare - man charged

Monday, 26 July 20103 min read

A man has been charged over the chemical leak which sparked a major security alert at Luton Airport on Friday.
Dariusz Tkaczyk from Slough has been charged with behaviour likely to endanger an aircraft.
He was arrested after what turned out to be high strength cleaning fluid leaked from his luggage. The spill prompted the fire service to be called and check-in to be closed, causing delays for thousands.
Tkaczyk had been travelling with Wizz Air, but authorities believed the substance that had leaked from his bag had contaminated luggage belonging to a Monarch passenger.
As a result, the incident caused a six-hour delay to a Monarch flight to Faro.
