Lyft testing monthly subscription service

Tuesday, 19 Mar, 2018 0

Ride sharing platform Lyft has started testing a new pay upfront subscription based service.

Different pre-pay plans are being offered to regular users, offering a limit of 30 or 60 short rides a month.

One option is an all-access subscription offering up to 30 Lyft rides to the value of $15 each for $199 a month.

For $399 users get 60 rides.

"We’re always testing new ways to provide passengers the most affordable and flexible transportation options. For the past few months, we’ve been testing a variety of All-Access Plans for Lyft passengers," a spokesman told the Verge.

Lyft CEO Logan Green reiterated the company’s aim to offer a subscription service, although it could look quite different from the current plans being tested.

"You rely on the Lyft network for all your transportation needs," Green said last week.

Rival Uber has previously tested its own subscription based service at different rates in several cities including San Francisco, Miami, Seattle and Washington DC.
