Macau casino resorts promise to invest billions in non-gaming

Six gaming firms secured new licenses for their Macau casino resorts.

However it comes at a significant cost.

They have pledged to spend billions on non-gaming facilities.

The casino firms will invest about $15 billion in non-gaming as part of new long term contracts.

They are Sands China, Wynn Macau, Galaxy MGM China, Melco and SJM Holdings.

The new contracts are effective from January 1, 2023.

It is part of the government’s strategy to make Macau casino resorts more inclusive.

It wants more family friendly options and cut its reliance on gambling tax revenues.
