Major airlines shifting operations at New York LaGuardia
As New York LaGuardia Airport construction work ramps up, six airlines are shifting operations starting in December.
From Saturday, December 9, American Airlines will shift its flights operating out of Terminals C to join its other services currently at Terminal B.
That means passengers will no longer need to take a time consuming shuttle bus transfer between Terminals B and C for some journeys.
"Moving our entire operation under one roof will not only make travel easier for our customers traveling to, from and through LaGuardia but our team members will enjoy upgraded spaces and be better able to work together," said Loretta Bove, managing director – LGA hub operations.
Meanwhile JetBlue and Alaska Airlines will both relocate from Terminal B to Terminal A on the same day.
Budget carriers Frontier and Spirit Airlines currently fly out of Terminal B, but will both move departures to Terminal C and all inbound flights will come in to Terminal D for both airlines.
Several new gates at Terminal B are being constructed as part of phase one of the airport rebuild and should be completed by next year.
"If you fly in next September, you could be landing at the brand-new gates in our new terminal. Think of it as our coming attraction for the finished film," said Ed Baklor, chief commercial officer of private-public development firm LaGuardia Gateway Partners.
A new parking lot with space for an extra 1,000 cars will be the first fully completed facility to open next spring.
