Malaysia Airlines launches sustainability blueprint
Malaysia Airlines and subsidiary Firefly have committed to net zero carbon emissions by 2050, and will recycle 50% of all in-flight and ground waste within the next four years.
The airline group outlined its pledge in the MAG Sustainability Blueprint which will also promote other green initiatives like reducing overall carbon dioxide emissions by 25 million kg in 2021.
It is committed to becoming a more responsible, efficient and effective organisation, says CEO, Captain Izham Ismail.
According to IATA, airlines generated around 6.7 million tons of cabin waste in 2018.
