Malaysia carrier MYAirline abruptly ceases operations
The abrupt closure of Malaysia based MYAirline has left passengers high and dry, seeking answers.
Customers due to fly on Thursday were only informed the airline had ceased trading when they tried to check in for flights.
MYAirline is the country’s newest airline, launching less than a year ago.
The airline announced the suspension of operations due to ‘significant financial pressures.’
Passengers arrived at Kuala Lumpur International to find all MYAirline check in desks closed with no airline staff.
Affected passengers said they were forced to pay for new flight tickets.
MYAirline later issued a statement, apologising for the sudden shutdown and is unable to offer passengers any immediate ‘service recovery options.’
Meanwhile AirAsia has stepped in to offer 50% discounted recovery fares on several routes.
It is applicable to all passengers with MYAirline confirmed bookings
It is valid to Langkawi, Penang, Tawau, Kota Bharu, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu-Tawau, and both Bangkok airports.
Batik Air is also offering fixed discounted fares on various domestic routes and to Bangkok.
