Malta first in EU to legalise weed
Malta has become the first EU state to legalise cannabis. A landmark parliamentary vote passed legislation to allow personal use and small-scale cultivation.
Adults will be allowed to carry up to seven grams of cannabis and grow up to four plants.
It still requires Malta’s president, George Vella to sign it into law. Equality Minister Owen Bonnici, called it a ‘historic’ move. Other countries including Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland have similar plans to legalise weed.
