A man accused of threats to blow up a Malaysia Airlines flight has pleaded guilty in an Australian court.
Sri Lankan student Manodh Marks tried to rush the cockpit and made threats to ‘blow the plane up’ during a flight departing Melbourne last May.
He was eventually overpowered by crew and other passengers as the flight turned back to Melbourne.
He had initially faced numerous charges but all but one were dropped.
He pleaded guilty to a single charge of attempting to take control of a plane.
A conviction could mean 20 years in prison.
He had been released from psychiatric care just hours before buying a ticket for the flight.
The so-called bomb in his possession turned out to be a harmless Bluetooth device.
