Manchester gets first direct flight to China
The only direct flight to China from an airport outside of London takes to the skies today.
The Hainan Airlines non-stop service from Manchester to Beijing will fly four times a week.
Flights depart on Friday, Saturday, Monday and Wednesday, served by an Airbus A330-300 with 32 business class seats and 260 in economy.
Return fares start from £487.
The airline’s president Xie Haoming said it looks forward to developing its relationship with the city.
