1. Red Bull Xtreme – Verbier 22-24 March 2002

On the North East Ridge, of the Bec des Rosses, 24 freeriders slowly hike
up the mountain, boards on their backs. At the top they concentrate, and
visualise their chosen line. At this moment the power struggle begins
between riders, the mountain, gravity and fate. Mistakes can be fatal,
mountains are unforgiving. The riders attack the snow and turn the
obstacles to their advantage but never lose their line before the home
straight to the finish line. Ultimate effort is required for the ultimate
test. At the summit we hear 3, 2, 1 GO! This is the Red Bull Xtreme

4. Switzerland To host UEFA Under 21 football finals

Switzerland will host the UEFA European Under-21 Championship final
tournament in May 2002, the UEFA Executive Committee have anounced.

The Swiss Football Association (SFV-ASF) has accepted UEFA’s invitation to
stage the eight-team tournament and UEFA President Lennart Johansson said:
“There were other candidates, but it made sense to offer the organisation
of the tournement to the Swiss FA, when looking at their record and they
are happy to do so.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from 16-28th May 2002. Beside
the Swiss Under-21 side, the other finalists are holders Italy, France,
England, Portugal, Greece, Belgium and Czech Republic. The tournament will
be in two sections, one located in Lausanne/Geneva and the other in

6. 34th Engadine Ski Marathon

One of the biggest sport events in the world takes place for the 34th
time. On the 10th of March 2002, more than 13000 participants will meet
on cross-country skis. The race starts in Maloja, passing St.Moritz and
finishes in S-chanf and covers the classical 42km-Marathon-Distance. On
the last 5km, typical Swiss Alphorn-sound awaits the participants to
motivate them for the last section.

7. Youthpalace – The most exclusive Swiss youth hostel

8. Peaks of the World – from the Jungfrau to the Matterhorn

The year 2002 having been declared the International Year of the Mountains
by the UNO. The Jungfrau Railway, the BVZ Zermatt-Railway and the GGB
Gornergrat-Monte Rosa-Railway acted immediately and jointly launched the
attractive package Peaks of the World – from the Jungfrau to the
Matterhorn. This experience trip is on offer from 1st January 2002 until
the end of the year 2002.
The price includes: 2nd class train travel from the Swiss border or Swiss
airport, four overnight stays with breakfast (Interlaken, Grindelwald or
