Margaritaville floats vacations at sea
The Jimmy Buffett inspired island lifestyle brand Margaritaville is getting its very own cruise line.
It is partnering with Palm Beach-based Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line to relaunch as Margaritaville at Sea.
The Grand Classica will be renamed the Margaritaville Paradise.
"To me the only thing better than being on a beach by the ocean, is to be on the ocean. Now you can follow in our wake," singer Buffet said.
The Margaritaville brand has grown to over 25 hotels and resorts, gaming properties, RV resorts and restaurants.
The 1,680-passenger will operate two-night cruises to Freeport, Grand Bahama.
"We are not seeing this as a rebranding of just a name, but a rebranding of the concept, basically redefining cruising with whatever Margaritaville has to offer," said Bahamas Paradise CEO Oneil Khosa, who will become CEO of Margaritaville at Sea.
‘Tens of millions’ will be spent redesigningship interiors and Buffet may perform on the ship on future cruises, Khosa said.
The audio-visual equipment and other electronics are being upgraded to be top of the line, and Buffet may perform on the ship at some point, Khosa said.
The ship’s restaurants and bars will be rebranded to signature Margaritaville venues.
