Marriott International has signed a landmark agreement with Misr Italia Properties and People & Places to develop nine hotels, resorts and branded residential projects across Egypt, representing more than 1,500 keys.
The multi-project agreement is designed to expand Egypt’s luxury hospitality and residential offerings while supporting the country’s broader ambition to grow tourism and strengthen its appeal as a destination for international investment.
The signing ceremony took place at the government headquarters in New Alamein City under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly. It was attended by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, and senior executives from Marriott International, Misr Italia Properties and People & Places.
The developments will include beach resorts, city hotels and branded residences under Marriott‘s luxury and premium brands, including The Ritz-Carlton, The Luxury Collection and Autograph Collection. The projects are intended to meet growing demand from both international travelers and residential buyers.
“Egypt remains a strategic growth market for Marriott, underpinned by strong tourism fundamentals, expanding infrastructure and increasing demand for premium hospitality and branded residential experiences,” said Shady Hassan, Vice President of Development for North Africa at Marriott International.
“This agreement underscores our long-term commitment to the market and our confidence in the country’s continued growth trajectory. Together with Misr Italia and People & Places, we look forward to bringing a collection of distinctive hotels, resorts and branded residences to some of Egypt’s most sought-after destinations.“
Mohamed Khaled El Assal, CEO and Managing Director of Misr Italia Properties and co-founder of People & Places, said hospitality is a key pillar of the company’s long-term strategy.
With planned investments exceeding USD 1.12 billion, the hospitality expansion is expected to create about 6,000 direct and indirect jobs while welcoming an estimated 373,000 tourists annually.
“Our vision extends even further as we continue building a diversified hospitality platform that will shape the future of tourism and lifestyle destinations in Egypt,” he said.
The deal includes over 1,800 hotel rooms and branded residences. Among the planned developments are a 170-room Ritz-Carlton hotel with 268 Ritz-Carlton Residences at The Med Ras El Hekma; a 180-room Autograph Collection hotel with 250 branded residences at Solare Ras El Hekma; a 180-room Luxury Collection hotel with 180 residences at The Hills of One in West Cairo; an 80-room Autograph Collection hotel with 172 residences at Kai Sokhna on the Red Sea; and a 100-room Autograph Collection hotel at Garden 8 in East Cairo.
