MATTA looks to domestic cruises to revive Malaysia’s tourism sector
A cruise industry resumption can quickly kick start tourism again in Malaysia, says the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents.
MATTA says cruise has ‘immense potential’ and can benefit ‘hotels, aviation, attractions, retail and many other tourism-related industries.’ It comes as the Ministry of Transport revealed it is working on standard operating procedures to allow the operation of domestic cruises.
Large ship sailings has ‘potential to generate thousands of jobs almost immediately’ in port cities like Port Klang, Penang, Langkawi and Melaka, MATTA President Tan Kok Liang said.
