McAlpin named president

Monday, 23 Sep, 2004 0

Long-time Disney veteran Tom McAlpin, the No. 2 executive at the Celebration-based Disney Cruise Line, was promoted to president.

Mr. McAlpin replaces Karl Holz, who has become president and CEO of Euro Disney SAS in Paris, France.

Mr McAlpin oversees the entire Disney Cruise Line business. He is responsible for all day-to-day operations. He reports directly to Al Weiss, president of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Mr McAlpin has been with the Disney Cruise Line since it started a decade ago. He helped develop the company’s original business plan, negotiated construction contracts for the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder, the purchase of Disney’s private island Castaway Cay, and the development of the company’s terminal at Port Canaveral.
