Meetings moving year-round in Virginia Beach

Sunday, 30 Jun, 2005 0

Virginia Beach, Virginia, with its first phase opening of a new convention center this summer, is on its way to becoming a year-round meetings destination, officials say.

The area is building the $202.5 million Virginia Beach Convention Center, which will have more than 500,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.

In recent years, Virginia Beach has invested $300 million to enhance the resort city. Another $600 million in private and public contributions is scheduled for the next five years.

The city has nearly 11,000 rooms within two miles of the convention center.

Local recreational activities include boating, fishing, kayaking, golfing and hiking.
