Mercure announce pole position on Mount Panorama
The Mercure Mount Panorama Bathurst, reputedly the largest and most significant new tourism development in regional Australia, will be the latest addition to Accor’s fast-growing franchise network when it opens in August.
The hotel will be launched with an opening rate of $145 throughout August and September, subject to availability.
The Mercure has a pole-position on Conrod Straight on the hallowed grounds of Australia’s most famous motor racing circuit, Mount Panorama, in the central-west NSW city of Bathurst.
The Mercure consists of 135 studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses, all fully self-contained with state-of-the-art facilities and modern décor.
Built over seven storeys, the development will feature a tennis court, heated pool, spa and brasserie-style restaurant. A day spa and fully equipped gym are also planned.
The hotel will target business, leisure and conference guests outside the race event periods and is set to become one of regional NSW’s leading conference venues servicing regional small to medium enterprises, motor industry related businesses and companies looking for a unique focus in a conference or incentive destination.
Conference facilities include a 400-seat rooftop function centre and the upgraded “Pit Paddock”, located adjacent to the hotel, providing a 1000-seat capacity conference centre, with a wide array of configurations available.
Delegates will also be encouraged to get in touch with their ‘inner rev head’ with laps around the iconic Mount Panorama circuit available as part of the conference experience.
Markus Friedler, hotel General Manager said he felt the Mercure brand provided strong opportunities, especially in terms of conferencing.
“This is truly a world-class tourism development and essentially a city-style hotel in regional Australia,” he said. “The Mercure brand is very well known with corporate and leisure travellers worldwide and we are excited about the opportunities to work with Accor, given their very strong commitment to the conference market.”
Accor’s Vice President – Australia, Simon McGrath, said that the Mercure Mount Panorama Bathurst would prove a pioneering tourism development in Bathurst, offering exceptional accommodation and facilities.
“It heralds a new era in tourism for Bathurst, as the first new build hotel for some 20 years,” Mr McGrath said.
“The Mercure brand has been a leader in Australian regional accommodation and we are confident of bringing a new level of style and service to Bathurst, which will help attract greater visitor and conference numbers.”
Minister for Tourism, Matt Brown, said the new hotel would be a welcome boost to tourism in Bathurst and Central NSW.
“As well as servicing the motor racing crowd, it will provide a valuable accommodation option for the thousands of tourists who enjoy Bathurst and the surrounding Central NSW region each year,” he said.
The Mercure Mount Panorama will set a new benchmark in regional accommodation and, with Accor’s global marketing and distribution network, will help to put Bathurst firmly on the global tourism map.
