Mexican Club Med grows up
Formerly adults-only Club Med Cancun Yucatan, after a $24 million renovation, has grown up and is now a family destination.
“Cancun Yucatan, with new children’s programs and the exclusive Jade concept, is the next step in the evolution of Club Med’s upscale and family oriented vacations,” said Cedric Gobilliard, president and CEO, North America.
The 12-month restoration of the normally adults-only resort will officially open in November.
Club Med has 80 resorts worldwide.
The Jade Villa concept is a concierge building for luxury travelers.
Club Med officials say the resort now has various facilities dedicated to teens and families that include water-skiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and tennis.
There’s also a Mini-Club Med that caters to children four to 10.
An adults-only dining area will cater to those seeking a child-free environment at that time.
Club Med officials say as a “discovery resort,” they will be encouraging guests to take in the archeology, gastronomy and culture of Mexico.
The new Club Med will continue to be an all inclusive resort.
This fall, seven-night all inclusive rates to Club Med Cancun Yucatan will start at $1190. Rates at the Jade Villa, which will have room service and ocean view suites, will start at $1428 a person.
