A good play is a sure hit on almost any group itinerary. If the show starts at 7:30, you really want to get tour members to the theater by 7:00, so you need to find a restaurant for dinner not too far away. And you need to find one that’s open before 6:00, which not all are. Once you’ve been
able to figure all that out, you wind up spending the entire dinner time checking your watch. It’s great when you lean back and the curtain rises, but by that time you’ve already spent at least
a few frazzled hours.

Chanhassen Dinner Theatre is a 90,000-square-foot entertainment complex that was built over 40 years ago on a cornfield outside of Minneapolis-St. Paul. Not only was the location a risk, but so was the decision to add a restaurant in combination with the theater.
