Mindful travel in Vermont

Vermont has always been a trail blazer in green choices.
This is the year of the mindful traveller, with choices on Vermont sustainable travel front of mind as we approach the carbon reduction targets of 2030.
Vermont is now more accessible than ever for sustainable tourism with the extension of the scenic Ethan Allen Express from New York City.
Hugging the banks of the Hudson, the line snakes up toward the foothills of the Catskills, before turning east to Vermont. The line meanders north, up through the Green Mountains, beyond its former termination in Manchester VT (Home of the Orvis Fishing and Outdoors company). The Ethan Allen now reaches all the way up to Vermont’s largest city of Burlington. Here you can enjoy the lake and many sustainability focused shops and restaurants.
From Burlington, travellers can jump on a bike to explore further into the Lake Champlain region with some of the finest cycling in North America. There is a 1,600+ mile network of bicycle routes, known as Lake Champlain Bikeways, in the Lake Champlain Valley of Vermont, New York, and Québec. The network includes a total of 35 loops and tours ranging from 10 to 60 miles in length, in addition to the Champlain Bikeway, a 363-mile principal route around the entire Lake.
Based on a rich array of natural, cultural, and historic themes, these loops meander along quiet back roads through extraordinary mountain scenery.
