‘Miracle’ as boy survives 40 minutes buried in avalanche
A 12-year-old boy has been rescued after being buried in an avalanche for 40 minutes in the French Alps.
Rescuers say it is a ‘miracle’ the boy was pulled out alive.
He was skiing on an off-piste section of the slopes at La Plagne in Bourg Saint-Maurice when he was swept away and separated from his group, French police told the Associated Press.
Captain Patrice Ribes said: "We can call it a miracle,"
The boy suffered a broken leg and was transported to Grenoble hospital.
