More hotels promise free WiFi
The latest TripAdvisor Industry Index, the world’s largest hotel survey, has throw up some interesting findings about today’s top hospitality industry trends.
With more than 25,000 responses from hoteliers around the globe, and almost 1,000 from Australia, there is some good news for hotel guests concerned about the high cost of in-room WiFi.
Fifty-five percent of respondents to the survey reported offering free in-room WiFi Internet access.
Twenty-eight percent of the respondents who do not currently offer free WiFi, plan to do so in the next six months.
In other key findings, Australia ranks ninth in the world with eco-friendly practices in place. Australia hoteliers (80%) beat other counterparts in Asia Pacific such as India, Thailand and Japan but falls behind New Zealand (93%).
In the last six months, 21% of Australia properties reported to have been extremely or very profitable.
There was no major difference between larger properties with more than 50 rooms (25%) and smaller properties with 50 rooms or less (20%).
