Three-fourths of US vacationers are likely to go online, which shows that “the internet has now become a primary source for vacation planning,” according to a new survey.
The survey of 500 households by SBC Communications Inc. found 75% of respondents were likely to on online while planning trips to check prices, buy tickets and make reservations.
The survey also found 92% of respondents planning to use the internet for vacation planning are likely to check hotel and air prices, 88% expect to look at maps and routes, and 84% will probably check local activities.
“Internet use doesn’t stop after the vacation is over, with 80% of summer travelers expecting to use e-mail or the internet to share their vacation experiences after they get home,” the study said.
The survey was conducted by I/H/R Research Group on behalf of SBC Communications.
