More MICE for China
The East China town of Wuzhen is hoping to increase its share of the MICE market next year.
Wuzhen is a historical water town, south of Shanghai and adjacent to Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
The tourism organization responsible for the town, Wuzhen Tourism, has improved the conference facilities and has a professional support team to assist with planning and running events.
Wuzhen Tourism says the city’s history, culture and natural surroundings, combined with efficient tourist services, friendly people and professional personnel make it an ideal choice for MICE activities.
There is a wide variety of hotels to choose from with over a thousand available rooms and capacity for 2,000 guests.
Over a hundred conference rooms are available including multifunctional conference rooms, VIP reception halls and general meeting rooms.
According to China Travel Service USA, there is high demand for MICE services among U.S. businesses because the region offers good value for money and destinations are safe.
While the most popular Chinese MICE destinations are Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, lesser-known regions are starting to be considered by meetings and event planners.
Wuzhen receives a total of more than five million Chinese and foreign tourists a year.
