More than 50 fall ill in gastro outbreak at Queensland resort
Scores of guests staying at a Queensland island resort have been struck down with illness linked to E.coli.
Queensland Health said more than 50 people fell ill in just a few days at Tangalooma Island Resort.
Initial tests of the drinking water showed traces of E.coli.
Health officials are continuing tests and all guests were advised to boil their drinking water or drink sealed bottled water.
They are still trying to locate the source of the contamination.
"Some of our guests and staff have reported illness consistent with nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach cramps and a general feeling of being unwell," a hotel spokesperson said.
