More wins for Amadeus
WTM 2004 Special: Amadeus has signed another airline to take its full suite of back office systems, and says it is in negotiations with three more carriers.
The GDS announced at a conference during World Travel Market that it has signed a letter of intent with South African Airways to take its Altéa Sell (sales and reservations), Altéa Plan (inventory control), and Altéa Fly (departure control) products.
The products are already used by Finnair, British Airways, dba and Qantas.
Asked why the airlines that hold shares in Amadeus had not been the first customers for Altéa, Amadeus vice president airline business group Frederick Spagnou said the company was in negotiation with Lufthansa and other Star Alliance partner airlines including United Airlines and Air Canada.
He said: “We feel confident that one day all shareholders will migrate to Altéa.”
He added that the Altéa products were designed to work for airlines of all sizes based on both the hub and spoke model and on the point to point model. However, he added that Amadeus planned to introduce a product specifically catering for low cost airlines in 2005.
