NCL orders two new Breakaway-Plus ships
Norwegian Cruise Line will order two new 4,200-passenger next generation Breakaway ships, due for delivery in 2018 and 2019.
Built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, the order will cost NCL around $2.2 billion.
The Breakaway-Plus ships, which are slightly larger than the existing Norwegian Breakaway and Getaway, are in addition to two other vessels currently under construction – Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Bliss – which will enter service in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
"Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway have proven themselves as industry game-changers and are extremely popular with our guests," said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line CEO.
"It was only natural that we build on their success with this new ship order that further solidifies our long-term growth strategy."
