Nearly half of Brits will spend less on holidays, says online poll
Nearly half of Brits will spend less on their holidays this year, according to a poll of 2,482 people.
The survey, by digital research experts eDigitalResearch and industry trade body IMRG (Interactive Media in Retail Group, found 47% of people are planning to cut their holiday spend.
Over half (57%) of respondents said the economic slowdown will make them more likely to shop online for holidays in 2009, with 58% stating they are primarily influenced by price.
“Interestingly for the travel operators, the index has highlighted that 32% of people will not use a travel agent to research their holiday before buying online,” said Michelle Fuller, director of eDigitalResearch.
“However, 13% of the respondents do not use the internet at all.
“The travel sector has undoubtedly witnessed a shift in consumer behaviour driven by making budgets work harder.â€
