Nevada extends Vegas casino closures
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak has extended the mandatory closures of Las Vegas casinos through April 30.
The governor initially issued a 30-day order on March 17 for all nonessential businesses to close.
"This strengthens the imperative that Nevadans must not leave their homes for nonessential activities in order to prevent the spread of covid-19," Sisolak said.
"This directive builds on previous directives around school closures, social distancing, closure of nonessential businesses, and bans on public gatherings of 10 or more people. Stay at home unless leaving is absolutely necessary."
At least 31 people have died of coronavirus in Nevada, and more than 1,000 people have been infected.
The continued casino closure has led to Caesars Entertainment furloughing about 90% of workers.
It will now operate with the ‘minimum workforce needed to maintain basic operations.’
