New Asian ‘early booking’ trend prompts CHRBS advisory
An unprecedented rush to secure top end Asian-based accommodation during the traditional October – January leisure travel period has prompted FIT specialist Corporate Hotels & Retreats Booking Services – Asia (CHRBS) to warn the local industry it must be on its mettle this year if it is to successfully satisfy its clients.
According to CHRBS Marketing Director Lewis Bloom the scramble to secure rooms in leading hotels, resorts and spas across the region, normally reasonably available at this stage of the year, was already having a major impact on booking patterns, the traditional booking period having kicked off at least two months early.
“There’s a definite trend developing with room supply at many of the traditionally popular venues across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand – and especially Vietnam – already under pressure from just about everywhere,” he said.
“Bookings for China, India, Japan, Korea and Taiwan are also up for the period.”
“While our operators currently have allocations at most of the properties, many of which are exclusive to CHRBS, we do know those rooms are all selling like hot cakes at the moment and it really is a case of first-in, best dressed.”
Mr Bloom said the increase in demand for the Asian region this year could be attributed in part to unprecedented demand from North America and Europe which was impacting on many top end properties’ booking patterns.
