New BHA chief to maintain ‘forceful’ lobbying
The new chairman of the British Hospitality Association has pledged to continue to “forcefully” lobby the Government over continuing challenges facing the industry.
Graham Grose, managing director of the Thurlestone Hotel, Devon, identified high energy costs, increasing regulations and the threat of a bed tax as key issues.
Grose succeeds David Williams (Ambassador Hotel, Llandudno) as chairman of the national executive of the BHA, the national trade association of the hotel, catering and leisure industry, which represents 40,000 establishments with more than 450,000 rooms and employing over 500,000 staff.
Grose said: “The hospitality industry faces challenges which the BHA must continue to address, among them rising energy costs, the rising tide of regulations, and the possible introduction of a bed tax.
“We need to continue to argue the industry’s case forcefully on behalf of both major groups and independent proprietors in Whitehall and elsewhere, in order to ensure ongoing investment, which is critical to the industry’s future success.”
