Saturday, 06 Apr, 2010 0

P&O Cruises’ new ship Azura is due to arrive in the UK for the first time tomorrow (Wednesday).

The 3,100-passenger sister vessel to Ventura is expected to sail into its home port of Southampton in the morning.

The ship will then be prepared for its formal naming at a dance-themed event by former Royal Ballet star Darcey Bussell in front of more than 1,200 guests on Saturday night.

A number of trade events will also be held on baord before Azura departs on its maiden cruise on April 12 – a 16-night central Mediterrean itinerary.

The ship features the line’s first dedicated cabins for single travellers, a giant open air cinema screen and a spa relaxation area on deck.
